Discover south of France by joining us in this perfect roadtrip during summertime when lavender is blooming.
Incredible landscapes, small traditional villages, French gastronomy and good wines…a Taste of the French way of life in Provence !
4 days & 4 nights
The flowering period of lavender depends on the region and usually lasts only a short month (for this itinerary, between June 20 and July 15)
Day 1: Arrival in Bonnieux
From Paris, a 6 hour car ride of 6h or you just land in “Marseilles or Avignon” and rent a car at the airport. Our hotel in Bonnieux: The “Roseraie” (warm welcome & nice location)
Day 2: Small authentic villages
Departure in the morning to visit Lourmarin (25min), another charming village, with castle, cobbled streets… Then around noon, we take the car back to the village of Cucuron (10min). Lunch by the water in Cucuron on the market square, idyllic place to eat! Then, we devote the afternoon to visit the villages of Ménerbes (40 min) (also a big crush and superb panorama!) and Opede le Vieux (11min). Diner back to Bonnieux
Day 3: Gréoux les bains
We change the hotel today and go to “Gréoux les bains“. But before arriving at the hotel, we stopped at Manosque to visit the old town and do shopping. Diner & night at Gréoux les bains. That small city is famous for its spa resorts. Very good location to observe lavender. The best spot is just a 5 minutes car ride : Plateau de Valensole. From Valensole, several roads are possible to reach the plateau of lavender… You can take the direction of Oraison, Puimoisson or Allemagne en Provence. We did the Oraison and Puimoisson road. Both are good.
Day 4: Lake Esparron & villages
Take the road that leads to Lake Esparron (25 min). Perfect for a swim. Then take the car to visit small & beautiful villages such as Allemagne en Provence (where we had lunch). Afternoon: Moustiers Saint Marie, classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France (45 minutes away)… Obviously, the village is breathtaking with its waterfall and mountainous scenery and there are plenty of hiking trails that start from the village.
Day 5: sautadet, roque sur ceze, ardeche gorges
Road to La Roque sur Cèze (2h10 by car). On the way, we make a 5-minute detour to visit Silvacane Abbey (well indicated). Then, we stopped at Goudargues which was on the to-do list (very beautiful village by the water). The last two days of this roadtrip in Provence, we stay with the inhabitants in a Provencal farmhouse (airbnb). The house is located 5 minutes walk from the Sautadet waterfalls, which is the highlight of this stage. Beautiful !
Day 6: aigueze & Gorges of ardèche
First stop of the day in the charming village of Aigueze ( to be seen) (30 min away!). Then, let’s go to the wonderful Gorges de l’Ardèche (40 minutes away by car) where you can swim. In the evening, we climb up to the top of the village of La Roque sur Cèze. Perfect for sunset…
