We discovered Amalfi Coast during a five days trip. It is easily one of the most beautiful coastal region in the world and one of our favorite in Italy ! We wish to go back soon…
Where: Amalfi Coast
Adorables villages carved into the cliffsides, so many colors, and sea wherever you're looking at..A must-see if you travel in Europe
When: May/ june/
Spring time is perfect. Weather is good and it won't be that much crowded.
keep in mind that it is very touristic so you never be alone no matter what the season.
We rent a car in may but prefer to travel by bus & train if you get there during high season (july/august).
Day 1: Arrival in Napoli
Reservation in advance strongly recommended for all your hotels. First stop to Pompeii. Getting started with the car and direction Pompeii for a few hours visit. Allow a good half day to visit this historic site. Some places seem to be abandoned but do not spoil its beauty and the emotion felt. Bring good shoes as the visit is quite long and tortuous. Take a walk with a paper guide or an audio guide for a real immersion in history, at the end of the afternoon, let’s go to Sorrento and the hotel Il Palmento
Day 2: Wonderful capri
The village of Capri is a little overcrowded, there are many tourists, luxury shops and luxury hotels. The western part leading to Anacapri and Monte Solaro is less wild than the eastern part of the island. There are bus lines in Marina Piccola, which allows you to go to Anacapri. The route offers a breathtaking view of Marina Grande. Anacapri is a much more authentic village than Capri.
Day 3: positano
At Positano, take a double room with a sea view, so you can have breakfast while admiring the view. Our Hotel was very nice (“Villa Rosa”). Positano is my favorite. A pearl! The coloured houses are set on the side of the cliff, like the canvas of a painting. Avoid July and August as the alleys are really narrow and you could be suffocated by the crowd of tourists.
Day 4: Amalfi & ravello
you will not be alone in the world, you will have trouble parking but it is worth it. Like Positano, you will find landscapes worthy of the most beautiful postcards. Ravello is a high perched village, offering beautiful views and a concentration of churches. Visit the city of Amalfi which is surrounded by rocky cliffs, it is surprising and splendid. Magic night in Ravello at the splendid “E poi è Ravello”
Day 5: Half day return to napoli
Discovery of small villages along the way, cities clinging to the rock, vertiginous winding roads, and always the sea as far as the eye can see. A last half-day to enjoy…
