How to spent 3 days in Budapest?

Our day by day itinerary to discover Budapest during springtime.

A 3 days in Budapest program to see the highlights and make the most of your trip without having to run !

We went in Budapest in April and find out that it was a nice weather to visit Budapest…

Day 1: Buda hill & downtown

To start with our 3 days in Budapest (nice) plan, We stayed at the Marriot not only because it was so well located but also because we love their resorts (book here Marriot on Hotel.com) within walking distance from almost every main touristic points.

One of our best locations so far, very clean with warm welcoming!

We left the flat walking through Chain bridge to catch funicular and walk to the top of Buda Hill.

Then, visit of the royal Visite of the Royal Palace then we walk toward the Matthias church…Incredible inside and outside !

Then you must see the Fisherman’s Bastion and its wonderful sightseeing !

Finally, make your way to the Vienna’s Tower then go back to your starting point through the remparts.
Go down the hill by following Citadella’s park and go back to Elizabeth bridge.

Guided tour of the great Synagogue, very beautiful.

End of the day relaxing at Gellert Baths. This place is nice but nothing special here. Classical swimming pool in art deco design but far less interesting than Széchenyi (our relaxing spot for the next day)

Gellert baths

Dinner time in an amazing Italian restaurant in Central Budapest : Bottega di Brontolo

Day 2 Place of the heroes & Széchenyi Baths

Breakfast at the California, not a must-do… Only sandwiches but ok.

Subway line 1 to Place of the Heroes, very beautiful place.

Then a city walk tour in the ‘city wood’  going through the Agriculture Museum in a Harry Potter style. You can cross the museum easily.

Stop at Széchenyi baths, Do not miss it ! warm baths and very relaxing time !

Lunch in the park facing the City Parc.

Then, Go down to Andrassy Street, very nice with embassies from everywhere.  Metro to the Parliament.

Visit of the Parliament and attend to the Changing of the Guard. City walk close to the Danube.

Big walk in the shopping district and into the Whale’s City mall.

Restaurant “La botte“, very pleasant but you should better go early…

Day 3: Covered market & Marguerite island

Visiting the covered market  Vasarcsarnok is magic : )

Food hall and walk on Marguerite Island.

Our advice: 3 days are well enough to discover Budapest and its highlights. Downtown Budapest is not too extended…
